Getting More Grass – farm walk and talk

SOPA introduces a Farm walk and talk with Pasture ecologist and clover botanist John Brock MSc of the New Zealand Grassland Association and the New Zealand Ecological Society, followed by a BBQ in the farm steading. 2pm – 6pm
John Brock is a botanical scientist with a lifelong interest in the productive capacity of clovers and grassland.  John has been recognised by the New Zealand Grassland Association for his achievements in Technology Transfer in Pastoral Farming and has published more than 50 papers on grazing management, pasture species and the relationship between soil and plants.

As an ecologist, John has spent his life’s work on the effects of grazing management on pasture competition, productivity and persistence. John is internationally recognised as a clover and grassland specialist.

In the 2015 International Year of Soil, SOPA is delighted to welcome John to Highland Perthshire for an in-depth look at soils and the plants that grow, and we invite any interested farmer to join us for a practical on-farm technical discussion.

This event will cost SOPA members £10 (plus registration fee) and is open to non-SOPA members (cost £25 plus registration fee). The event registration fee includes the evening BBQ.

This event will follow the SOPA AGM held in Dunkeld at lunchtime on the 5th June.
