National Organic Cereals 2012
Organic Farmers & Growers Ltd, in partnership with Abacus Organic Associates, has great pleasure in announcing that National Organic Cereals 2012 will be held at Launceston Farm, Blandford, Dorset on 5 July 2012.
More than 220 delegates, exhibitors and speakers joined us for the 2011 event, which proved to be another fascinating and very sociable occasion.
The day was hugely oversubscribed with regard to both delegates and exhibitors, so we would urge anyone who particularly wants to attend this year to book straight away, in order to avoid disappointment.

The Delegate Booking Form can be filled in on-screen and then printed for posting to us with payment.
We are very pleased to again welcome Charlotte Smith of BBC Radio 4 who has kindly agreed to chair the talks.
This year the event will focus on fertility in the organic system with talks and demonstrations as well as the usual question and answer sessions.
National Organic Cereals is OF&Gs’ premier event each year, bringing together producers, millers, buyers, seed companies, researchers and more from across the sector to share expertise, experience and market data.
It is the biggest one-day event dedicated to organic farmers in the calendar.
This year’s event will feature:
- Varieties yield trial courtesy of Pearce Seeds
- Spring barley trial courtesy of Robin Appel Ltd
- Nitrogen stabilising treatments with The Farm Consultancy Group
- Presentations from experienced specialists including organic agronomy, profit margins, CAP reform and more
- A wide variety of trade stands and machinery on display
- A guided farm walk, with particular attention to the trial crops
- Refreshments throughout the day and an organic breakfast and lunch for all
- Moisture meter clinic – in association with Organic Arable
The day is generally a combination of presentations from industry experts as well as question and answer sessions, running alongside specially-planted crop trials around which farm walks take place, with information presented by those involved in the trials. A respectable time is allowed for lunch and tea/coffee/cake breaks, to ensure maximum opportunity to network – or just to catch up with familiar faces.
In 2012 we are delighted to be welcoming back as our on-stage host for the day Charlotte Smith, the well-known presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Farming Today programme. Charlotte became a friend of the event in 2011 and did an outstanding job of pulling together the threads of the discussions and pinpointing the topics that were important to our audience.
Having been staged at locations throughout the UK’s arable heartland (from Shropshire to Hampshire and Suffolk), National Organic Cereals will this year be hosted by OF&G licensees Sarah Worrall and her son, Jimi Collis, at their beautiful Launceston Farm, near Blandford, Dorset.
Trial crops have been planted ready to be viewed and discussed on the day and the event will continue to evolve, based on the very positive feedback from the hundreds of delegates in previous years.
Tickets are £30 IN ADVANCE – this includes admission and lunch (organic beef). Members of the same farming household are eligible for a family discount. There will also be a farm walk, so it is advisable to bring appropriate clothing. This is a full day event, starting at 9.55am prompt (registration and refreshments from 9am). Event capacity is limited. We cannot guarantee entrance to the event. All bookings will be treated on a first come first served basis.
